My 5th grade teacher told my mother, that one day, I would be a cruise director. I don't know what prompted her to tell my mother this or what about me struck her to dub me a future cruise director, but when my mother told her that I had become a wedding coordinator, my junior year of college she deemed herself correct in her prediction.
I had never grown up seeing myself as a wedding coordinator and actually found it quite laughable when my adviser suggested that I took a position as interning under a wedding coordinator to fulfill a requirement for my degree. However, when I entered the world of wedding coordination, I fell in love.
What draws me weddings is more than romance and happy endings. It is the show, the attention to detail, the organization required, and the creative problem solving needed every step of the way.
If you are looking for a pretty wedding, I, and almost every wedding planner can provide that for you. If you are looking for someone to blur the lines of tradition, to create an event uniquely you, & bring joy to you and your guests, than I am your girl.
My name is Donna Bilbo and for 33 years, I worked as a registered nurse. Well into my nursing career, I started working for Carroll Homecare and Hospice. My main responsibility was to care for and coordinate on behalf of my patients and their needs. Later in my career, during the early aughts, at Carroll Homecare and Hospice, I worked as an events coordinator to raise funds for Hospice. Events such as art auctions, the Taste of Carroll, Festival of Trees, and various other events aided in funding our efforts to enhance the quality of care we were able to provide our patients.
Working as an events coordinator for Carroll Homecare and Hospice helped opened my eyes to what always lay dormant within me. A passion for creating, organizing, and executing themed events, whether for work or personal events. Therefore, after years of helping others through the most trying of times, I decided to redirect my career path to helping couples through some of the best moments of their lives.
Starting in early 2017, I planned and coordinated two large weddings. One nautical themed wedding, at Chesapeake Beach Resort and Spa, May 2018, and one tropical themed, out of state wedding, at The Pelican Grand Resort in Fort Lauderdale, FL, October 2018. Both of these weddings had 100 guests. I coordinated with hair and makeup, photographers, florist, DJs (music, lighting, photo booth and dance floor monogram), venue (setting up reception hall) and bakeries (cake delivery and setup). I focused on the clipboard, so the couples could enjoy their big day.
Understanding, coordinating, creating, and transforming your wedding vision into a reality is my number one goal. A day you will remember for the rest of your life, filled with love, laughter, and joy!
I am passionate about creating a ceremony script that showcases everything you value as a couple. I am also on call for all DC Engaged Weddings to ensure the show goes on even if the planned officiant has an emergency.
